3rd time's a charm.
NUMBER 2
Chris Bathgate is coming out with a new album (The Salt Year), and I offered to take some promo pictures for him, mainly because he sent me lyrics to this really old song that he wrote that I couldn't find on the internet. And because he offered to make me a pie.
And here he is making me a pie.
I also took a few rolls of film, which I picked up today, so hopefully I'll have a chance to work on those this week.
First post in a while...
I've been trying to keep busy lately, and feeling much more motivated than I have for the past few months. I'm going to rapidblog to show exactly what I've been up to lately.
HERE GOES.
I've been doing some FREElance stuff (get it?)
I did the Christmas cards for my work-
and then the INSIDE says:
"Because the goodwill of those we serve is the foundation of our success, it's a real pleasure at this holiday to say "thank you," as we wish you a full year of happiness and success."
Yeah, I know. Their colors are yellow and purple. I didn't get to choose it.
Pretty cute though, right?
and they've been having me redo a bunch of their menus and things, which is pretty cool because I don't mind doing this kind of stuff for them and they throw me extra cash and give me extra hours when I do it.

update on my life
Jessica, Morgan, and me
Alright so I graduated from college. Morgan, Andrew and I signed our lease for our new house in Royal Oak, and Morgan and I both got jobs (at the same place, haha). Also, I'm obsessed with Why? right now, especially this song. I start work on Friday, and I'm going to start moving stuff into the house soon (Andrew started today, and Morgan started work today). So I'll post pictures of the house soon. Things have been kindof crazy, and I admit I haven't been keeping up with photos. So I guess once things settle down, I'll start taking more pictures and then maybe get a job in a gallery part time.

my system is the solar.
ALMOST DONE. This semester is seriously the semester from hell, it never ever ever ever ever ever ends. I have my final walkthrough at 1:30...
I have all 12 of my images spread between a wall and a panel. Small images are priced at $275, large at $375. Additional prints available upon inquiry. These are my first thesis from this year, the ones in SECTION 1 of my portfolio.
Cloud Nothings "Can't Stay Awake"
(thought it was fitting.)
You can tell how tired I am, and how tired of school I am. People keep asking, "So how does it feel to be done?" IT NEVER ENDS. Also, let me just complain about one more thing and tell you how sick I am of looking at these images. I've been working on them since September.
Somebody buy my stuff, or give me a job. Please.

karrasville
I just got back from a mini camping trip up north in Harrisville, Mi. It snowed while we were there (also I saw a fox! and two deer!) But was beautiful in the bittersweet way, you know the way I'm talking about, and I love my friends so much.
Finally, on Saturday (once it stopped snowing), the men got a fire started. Things started to get good, we were all really depressed and were thinking about going home because it was so cold. We toughed it out.
Lake Huron is literally 20 feet from Drew's parents' place (which is a 10x10 ft. shack, and we had 12 people sleeping in it, and 2 in another smaller shed).
I climbed up this too. We found this on a walk. But I didn't climb all the way to the top. I couldn't make it solely because I wasn't wearing my grip gloves, which are pictured here:
On the right side is my glove peekin' over the lens. None of us packed gloves so we went to Kmart and bought matching gardening gloves that have grips on the bottom. Good for holding beers and climbing things.

“Doing all the little tricky things it takes to grow up, step by step, into an anxious and unsettling world.”
about to go to my last crit and final review...
graduation, here I come.
how i'm feeling: fat. and accomplished.
I'm like a real grown up: high heels, suit coat, and a college degree.
at least there's no room to grow up any more here.
peace out ccs. you've been bad and good to me, but mostly good.
I'd like to thank my mom and dad for putting up with me through all of this, (also putting me through this) and for the talent and creativity you've given me. you have no idea how grateful I am/have been/will be.
i love you most.

ALSO
Here is some stuff I shot for Mike's portfolio:
I left the crop open on these versions. The versions going on my website (and the ones in his portfolio) are a bit different.
detail of the illustration:
I'm really into the version of "And It Stoned Me" that Bob Dylan and Van Morrison did. I couldn't find it online (and I don't have it on my computer, only on my iPod), but here is the original version of the song for your listening pleasure.
when the lilacs were in bloom
35mm negatives scanned digitally (along with some prints) and manipulated/painted in photoshop.
so remember that image of the building and the water where the building looks like it's on fire? i decided to make that my second thesis, along with my website. I'm gonna print them either on skins or on canvas and have them be paintings. i'm so hungry.
